The photo is in very bad condition. On it there is a standing man in the uniform of an elder rank-and-file soldier of the tsar’s army. On either side of him sit a teenage girl in a light-coloured jersey and a dark-coloured skirt and a young woman in a long dress with an embroidered collar. The photo was taken in a photographer’s workshop ; According to the description attached to the photograph, it was taken in 1927 in an unknown photographer’s workshop. It shows the donor’s grandfather, Mateusz (..) (born 1897), who lived in the village of Depułtycze Królewskie (near Chełm Lubelski). The photo pictures the grandfather with his younger sister and a female friend. [The description is, at least as to the date of its creation, fake, as the man on the photo is dressed in a uniform of the tsar’s army and the women’s clothes also don’t point to the year 1927 ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village).
