The photo shows a family on the Christmas Eve. Three children, a young woman and a man in a military uniform are sitting at a table covered with a white tablecloth. A young woman with a baby in her arms is standing at its side. A decorated Christmas tree, other Christmas decorations, a religious picture on the wall (The Holy Heart of Lord Jesus) a tapestry and curtains in the windows are visivible in a background. Food is lying on the table. There is an inscription on the back of the photo (left upper corner): “The family token of remebrance in the Christmas Eve (…) in Kobylniki 1933” ; (and in the middle) “The memento for beloved parents (…)”; December 24th, 1933, Kobylniki Village (today Belarus) ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
