The collection of algae (KRAM A) comprises about 5200 dried and wet-conserved herbarium specimens (among them exsiccata series Algen Europas by L. Rabenhorst and Phycotheca Polonica by M. Raciborski, J. Wołoszyńska, K. Starmach et al.) as well as one of the largest phycological iconographic collections in the world covering above 54 thousand taxa (in this more than 11 thousand iconotypes) on more than 415.5 thousand figures (accessible only at the Institute location).
