The photo depicts two young men in elegant suits shaking hands as a sign of a greeting. Both are holding cigarettes in their hands. According to the photo’s owner, it depicts her father Stanisław (…) when he was 20 years old (in the picture he’s the one wearing a white suit) greeting his friend (…). The photo was taken by a photographer in Nowy Brzesk – Mr. Majchrowski. The man in a dark suit came from the village of Wawrzeńczyce. These men were friends and business partners, both traded in calx, coal and paraffin oil ; 1940, Nowe Brzesko, Proszowice district ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village).
