The photo depicts a man dressed as a vagabond – in a hat with a feather, torn jacket and trousers, with a sack across his back and a stick in his hand – walking across a snow-covered field. There are farm buildings in the distance. Underneath the photo there is the following inscription: “2. II.1942. A vagabond [spelled with an error]. According to the photo’s owner: “even during the occupation people from the village have not lost hope and good humour.” The photo depicts a brother of the photo owner’s father ; 2 February 1942, Piaseczno, voiv. Gdańskie ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village).
