The Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences was established on November 19, 1953 as the Institute of the History of Material Culture of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In 1992, the name of the Institute was changed to its present name. IAE PAS is a scientific institution that deals with three extensive and independently practiced fields, which are archaeology, ethnology and history of material culture. The basis of the Institute's activities is archaeological research. The IAE PAS has several branches and scientific stations in Poland, including laboratory supports. Archaeological and ethnological research is carried out not only in Poland, but also in cooperation with many international centres.
The collection contains materials documenting the Institute’s activities, including folders or materials from sessions and conferences.
