The photo shows a woman and a man accompanied by three girls at all ages. The man is dressed in a suit, a shirt and a tie, the woman has a skirt and a jacket. Houses and other people are visible in the background. As described by the owner the photo this is a married couple …, with three daughters from Stawce Village in Sieradz voivodeship. The photo was taken in Elsterwerda / Germany where the family stayed as forced workers. These are the grandparents of the owner of the photo and his mother with her sisters. There is a short description on the back of the photo: “a memento from Germany – from a fair – Elsterwerda Summer 1941”; Elsterwerda, Germany ; The photo sent to the contest “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly „Nowa Wieś” (New village). The copy of the photo in the possession of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute of the History of Material Culture).
