The photo depicts two women in regional costumes: black blouses with puffed sleeves and long black skirts. Women are posing in front of lush greenery. According to the photo’s owner, the first from the left is his father Emanuel’s sister – Franciszka. These women came form peasant families from Kokoszyce. They are dressed in a traditional Sunday outfit, worn at that time by unmarried women from the neighbouring villages of Pszów commune, Rybnik district, Katowice voivodeship. It was a long, usually black skirt with an undecorated apron – if without an apron, than a skirt would be trimmed with 6 white buttons (on the left side). Women also used to wear waistcoats (with or without a cut waistline), fastened at the front in the middle with ornamented buttons, decorated with clasps or without them, in various patterns. That costume was commonly used until 1939 ; 1917, Kokoszyce ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village).
