Abstract:

We consider a hybrid representation paradigm for decision problems, in which the structural aspects of a problem are expressed in role form, and the quantitative aspects are captured in a mixed symbolic/numeric language. We present informally the essential concepts of agents, goals, decision processes, decision environments, and flexibility. The discussion is couched in terms of NEGOPLAN, a decision support system embedded in the logic programming language Prolog. We show examples of problems successfully modelled in NEGOPLAN.
