Some problems of determining group opinion when experts' judgements are given in the form of preference orders are discussed. The topie of interest is Kemeny's rule because of its important properties; it is the unique preference Junction that is neutral, consistent and Condorcet and it does not exhibit pathological behaviour typical for other methods. Basic notions related to the method are given. Practical applications of Kemeny's median algorithm have been limited due to computing difficulties. The ref o re heuristic algorithms for computing a median are of interest. One of them is presented in the paper. Numerical examples illustrating the application of the algorithm are given.
