Abstract:

The major purpose of this paper is to present a new way in which interregional-trade flows can be adjuated to marginal control totals through the combined use of two estimation techniques: the RAS and linear programming procedures. In order to present a context for the description of the new adjustment procedure, a critical review of the literature on the application of the RAS procedure to input-output and interregional-trade tables is provided in the first section· of thia paper. There is a large and growing literature on the use of nonsurvey techniques to est ima te input-output tabl es and interregional trade flows.
