Clinical, anatomical and histological diagnosis
Histological diagnosis: Meningioma endotheliale partim malignans. Autopsy examination of 72-year-old patient was performed. Neuropathological evaluation in light microscopy was based on brain paraffin sections stained with Hematoxylin-eosin, cresyl-violet and Van Gieson's method.A tumor was found, showing a typical structure, containing tightly arranged sets of nest-forming endothelial cells interspersed with collagen fibers, fibroblasts, and vessels. The tumor in the frontal pole showed a malignant nature. It infiltrated both white and grey matter and contained numerous necrotic areas and fibroblastic cells, sometimes in the phase of abnormal division. The tissue at the margin was edematous, symptomatic infiltration and hemorrhages were seen at the swollen vessels.
