Clinical, anatomical and histological diagnosis
Histological diagnosis: Angioma racemosu,? Haemorrhagia trunci et suburachnoideali.Autopsy examination of 56-year-old patient was performed. Neuropathological evaluation in light microscopy was based on brain paraffin sections stained with Hematoxylin-eosin and van Gieson method. In the meninges below the 3rd ventricle, a vascular packet containing veins, arteries, and vessels with incompletely differentiated walls was found. A huge hemorrhage was observed in the pons, including the dorsal part of the bulb. No features of preceding malacia were seen. In the basal part of the pons, smaller secondary hemorrhages were present. Within the subarachnoid region, many clusters of free-lying blood cells were observed among the vessels of the angioma.
