Description:

Clinical, anatomical and histological diagnosis

Abstract:

Histological diagnosis: glial liver.Autopsy examination of 61-year-old patient was performed. Neuropathological evaluation in light microscopy was based on brain paraffin sections stained with Hematoxylin-eosin and van Gieson method.Uncharacteristic changes were observed in the brain: diffuse cellular thinning in the cortex and slight widening of the vascular spaces. In the cerebellum significant thinning of the granular layer was seen. In the white matter of the hemispheres and in the pons, single astrocytic cells with very large vesicular nuclei were found. They resembled the naked nuclei of Alzheimer's, but were lacking a stippled, multilobed outline.
