Description:

Clinical, anatomical and histological diagnosis

Abstract:

Histological diagnosis: Aneurysma cerebri. Haemorrhagia sub-arrachnoidealis et sec. pontis.Autopsy examination of 32-year-old patient was performed. Neuropathological evaluation in light microscopy was based on brain paraffin sections stained with Hematoxylin-eosin and van Gieson. A left anterior cerebral artery specimen showed a saccular aneurysm. The wall of the aneurysm, composed of connective tissue elements, was very thickened in some sections. No layered structure was found. The lumen was filled with a blood thrombus. Fresh blood was present in the subarachnoid space. Small infiltrates of lymphocyte-derived cells were observed in the meninges. Small secondary hemorrhages were seen in the pons. In the periphery of the hemorrhages, the brain tissue was markedly loosened.
