Clinical, anatomical and histological diagnosis
Autopsy examination of 49-year-old patient was performed. Neuropathological evaluation in light microscopy was based on brain paraffin sections stained with Hematoxylin-eosin and van Gieson. Fresh hemorrhagic effusion into an extensive necrotic focus was found, presenting different stages of organization and different morphological images. Macrophage resorption, vascular proliferation, lacunar perivascular vacuoles, and spongy necrosis were observed.
