Abstract:

The study presents materials for learning English as rarely exploited sources for research into the pastof Polish-English linguistic and cultural contacts. The viewing of educational texts allowed to: examinethe factors determining the high prestige of English among Poles, observe ways of using elements of Anglo-Saxon culture for educational purposes, indicate the types of interference phenomena possible to analyzein texts written by bilingual people. The observations were carried out in accordance with the assumptionsof anthropological linguistics, stressing the relationship between man, language and culture in the studyof our ancestors’ language use.
