The aim of the paper is to analyze the discoursive strategies of multilingual receptive communication applied in Drach, a novel by Szczepan Twardoch, which is considered to be written in three languages. The novel portrays the rich linguascapeof Silesia through the XX century and contains many Polish— German or Polish — Silesian or Polish — Russian dialogues. The analysis is theoretically grounded in the concept of lingua receptiva, which can be regarded as a vehicle for effective communication between members of diverse language communities while using different languages simultaneously to achieve mutual understanding.
