Degradation of phenol and cyanide by Pseudomonas sp. strain - Part 2

Publisher:

Committee on Biotechnology PAS ; Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry PAS

Abstract:

The strain of Pseudomonas sp. FCR was isolated from the mixed population of the activated sludgemicroorganisms. This strain after adaptation degraded 4 mM of phenol and 1 mM of cyanide in 24 hourcycles. The degradation of phenol and cyanide ran in two consecutive phases: first cyanide and thenphenol were degraded. Isolation and fractionation of the crude fraction of enzymatic proteins proved themicrobiological nature of cyanide and phenol degradation.
