Abstract:

W tekście stawiamy pytania o to, dlaczego i w jaki sposób demonstracje uliczne i inne taktyki protestu powinny być brane pod uwagę przy planowaniu i projektowaniu przestrzeni publicznej. W ten sposób przedstawiamy głos sprzeciwu wobec tych polityków i aktorów w produkcji przestrzeni miejskiej, którzy chcieliby postrzegać przestrzenie protestu jako niechciane, zagrażające lub po prostu utrudniające sprzedaż nieruchomości ze względu na „uciążliwe sąsiedztwo”. Chociaż wiedza na temat roli przestrzeni w badaniach nad ruchami społecznymi jest już dobrze ugruntowana, rzadko jest omawiana w odniesieniu do praktyki projektowania (z kilkoma ważnymi wyjątkami). Zgodnie z naszą argumentacją, należy uwzględniać dwoistą naturę demonstracji ulicznych: zgromadzenia są postrzegane jako symbole demokracji, ale mogą być również destrukcyjne. To napięcie jest widoczne w dwóch wizjach projektowania: ułatwianiu i utrudnianiu demonstracji ulicznych w miejskim środowisku. W naszym tekście pokazujemy, że protesty są immanentną częścią neoliberalnej demokracji, a miasta nie mogą uniknąć lub nie uwzględnić demonstracji ulicznych w procesie projektowania przestrzeni.
