The author discusses EU regulations concerning biotechnology, a new technology whichstrongly influences the internal market. Primary regulations (the treaty), secondary (regulations, directives, decisions) and general principles of the Community Law are considered. The association agreement between Poland and the European Community (the European Agreement) isalso taken into account. Directives Nos 90/219, 90/220 appear to play a key role in the fieldof biotechnology.
