The intergeneric hybrids between S. cerevisiae and S. pombe auxotrophic mutants strainsusing the method of protoplasts fusion were obtained. Typical biochemical and physiologicalproperties of both parental strains during hybrids examinations were observed, although thecell shapes were similar to fission yeasts. Simultaneous budding and dividing abilities duringvegetative hybrids reproduction were noted. A good ability of L-malate biodegradation in fermentation process that reached 88.23-97.67% was claimed. All features expressed by intergenerichybrids served convincing evidence of hybridization process.
