Abstract:

In shallow littoral habitats the numbers and biomass of the benthos are high, much higher than the numbers and biomass of the macroperiphytonic fauna (inhabiting the underwater parts of emergent macrophytes). The seasonal dynamics of numbers of the benthos and macroperiphytonic fauna is different, which may indicate that these two faunal groupings arceto some extent specific. Differences can also be seen between habitats and two consecutive study years.
