Objects of historical value on museum display and in storage are influenced by the surrounding environment which is called a microclimate. The conservation process of objects in museums can be effected in two ways: passive conservation which is concerned with controlling the surrounding parameters and active conservation which focuses on individual objects. In many museums the microclimate is not automatically controlled, resulting in considerable temperature gradients as well as changes in humidity. This paper focuses upon the impact that changes in humidity have upon museum exhibits. Measurements were carried out using dataloggers and thermovision camera. Data were collected at different times of the day and seasons of the year, as well as before and after museum visiting hours
