Abstract:

Global crises in food production, extinction of main energy and raw materials sources, environmental pollution, are considered to be main stimuli for the development of plant biotechnology. > Progress in molecular biology Is discussed in this respect. Main fields of pertinent research, such as the improvement of nourishing values of main crops, the increase of plants productivity, and the decrease of energy consumption in crops production are pointed out.
