Abstract:

The effect was determined of water heating and intensified pressure of phytophagous fish – silver and bighead carps, on the abundance and species composition of the zooplankton. A low level of numbers and small proportions of larger forms, found in this lake, especially of crustaceans, seem to indicate an impact of the intensive feeding of the phytophagous fish. Narrow variation in zooplankton numbers during the season and an early appearance of summer forms in the rotifer community indicate that the abundance and structure of the zooplankton of the lake are intensively affected by higher water temperatures.
