Modifying effect of biotic agents ; Pelagic zooplankton variation

In the lakes under study the pressure of planktivorous fish is not a factor causing changes in the quantifiable and structural characteristics of the zooplankton. Neither is the action of invertebrate predators. The results, obtained from the study indicate that the possible causes of changes in the zooplankton numbers, biomass and structure should be found on the one hand in changes in the size structure and biomass of the phytoplankton, and on the other – in the nature of the relationship between the phytoplankton and zooplankton.
