Description:

Zespół fotografii zrobionych we wsiach w stanie Maharszta.

Object description:

Photo (scan from slide). The photo shows a kind of traditional tribal shrine. In the center there is a piece of wood with a picture of a rider on a horse, on both sides of it there are stones painted with paint. The stake stands under a palm tree at the edge of the field and represents the male deity of the guardian of the fields, belonging to the pantheon of tribal deities. They can be treated as a place marked by an unearthly force, a kind of primitive shrine. Ceremonies are held here to protect property. The village of Kalambipada lies in the monsoon zone, hence the predominance of rich vegetation and flora. During the rainy season, the fields are flooded with water. Photo taken in the dry season.
