Description:

Zespół fotografii zrobionych we wsiach w stanie Maharszta.

Object description:

Photo (scan from slide). Folk artists of the Warli tribe while painting their paintings on paper in the village of Devgaon. Painting of pictures started in the 1980s, when paper was delivered and persuaded to paint on it. Formerly members of the tribe painted ritual marks on the walls of their huts during weddings. Paintings on paper, painted in a technique typical of Warla - white paint on a dark background - were sold in Bombay. The existing ritual signs have been replaced by images from the daily life of the tribe, both from material life and figures from the spiritual life. These paintings are in the collections of museums around the world. Young adepts in the photo.
