Abstrakt:

Six species of Carabus L. and Pterostichus Bon. genera, representatives of the spring and the autumn breeders which inhabit woodlands were studied. lnstantaneuous rnortality rates of eggs, larvae, prepupae and pupae as well as beetles were estimated. Larval mortality rates appeared to be much higher than those of eggs, prepupae and pupae. Mortality rates of beetles were always higher in the breeding season than out of the season. A general conclusion is drawn, that the active stages in the life cycle – i.e., stages gaining weight or producing eggs, and thus mobile because of food seeking – are especially susceptible to mortality factors.
