The article explores role of attires in dance reenactment. It describes how reenactors collect historical sources on past dresses, how present costumes are designed, sewn and finally worn and used by dancers. Using concepts of cold and hot authenticity (Selwyn) the author interprets whole tactics of choosing dress for certain reenactment purposes. She focuses on two main attitudes towards costume – one above all valuing historical accuracy even if it negatively influences visual outcome of dance performances and second allowing some concessions to historical sources in order to improve dynamics of dance, to make it more attractive for the audience. Both paths are valid within reenactment movement, however, discussion between adherents of them seems endless
