Title: „Is it stosowne (appropriate)?” About the syntactic and semantic features of the units stosowny (appropriate) and stosownie (appropriately)

Abstrakt:

The article presents a detailed syntactic and semantic analysis of the words stosowny [appropriate], stosownie [appropriately] in the Polish language. The author sets a hypothesis that by analogy with the units odpowiedni / odpowiednio one can distinguish homonymous lexical units in the shape of an adjective and an adverb representing different levels of the language (belonging to its subject level and meta level). The lexical units having the shape of stosowny and stosownie represent the adjective and the adverb, respectively, as well as the meta predicative operator stosowny and meta predicative operator stosownie. Accordingly, stosownie cannot perform the function of an enumeration operator, which is performed in turn by the sequence odpowiednio.
