Muscle segment examination in light and electron microscopy

Abstract:

A lower limb muscle biopsy from 7-week-old patient was examined.Electronmicroscopy analysis revealed some unchanged myofibres with preserved sarcomersstructure. Necrotic changes of vascular endothelial cells were seen .In some fibers abundant deposits of glycogen and damage of mitochondrial cristae were observe. Quite numerous fat droplets coexisting with glycogen were seen. Abundantconnective tissue separating muscle fibers was visible in some parts of the specimen.
