Application of microsatellites in genetic mapping of quantitative trait loci in farm animals
Committee on Biotechnology PAS ; Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry PAS
Microsatellites are tandem repeats of a simple sequence that occur abundantly and at randomthroughout most eukaryotic genomes. Mammalian microsatellite loci have been shown to behighly polymorphic due to variation in the number of repeat units. They are veiy good markersfor quantitative traits loci (QTLs) mapping studies.
