Abstract:

Unusual properties of the genome of the causative agent of Lyme disease, the spirochaeteBorrelia burgdorferi and related species B. garini and B. afzelii, the presence of linear chromosomeand plasmids and unusual organization of rRNA genes and dnaA gene cluster were discussed.Major outer-membrane proteins of Borrelia OspA, OspB and OspC, and endoflagellar filamentsprotein Fla were also presented.
