Abstract:

Kinetin, BAP and NAA increased glucotropaeolin content in dry weight ofnasturtium hairy roots but they inhibited biomass growth. Salicylates moststrongly (by about 100-200^ above control) and DL-p-aminobutyric acid andmethyl Jasmonate to a lesser degree increased glucotropaeolin yield. They alsoslightly increased myrosinase activity. Trans-cinnamic acid was a much strongerinducer of myrosinase activity than glucotropaeolin biosynthesis; it strongly inhibited biomass growth. L-l-amino-2-phenylethylphosphonic acid, inhibitor ofL-phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (PAL), induced glucotropaeolin production andenhanced the effect of salicylates and Jasmonate on glucotropaeoplin yield butit did not affect myrosinase activity
