The constriction of the duclus choledochus 50—70 per cent causes in dogs apart from cholestasis a complete picture of hypertension in vena portae. The changes were observed mostly in the 13-th week after the operation. The increase of the portal pressure, development of the abdominal collateral circulation and ascites were the characteristic signs. The authors suggest the method of partial constriction of the choledochus to be used as a model for studies on the hypertension in the portal vein
