Abstract:

The paper contains a description of the zoobenthos and of the process of its formation during the 28-year existence of the Goczałkowice reservoir. Five stages have been distinguished: the first one comprised 1955 and was characterized by the recession of terrestrial and river fauna; the second (1956-1959) – by a mass development of Chironomidae; the third (1960-1963) – by the growth of other zoobenthic groups; the fourth (1964-1973) – by a rapid decrease in numbers; the fifth (since 1974) – by a new growth in numbers and a stabilized specific composition.
