Przegląd Geograficzny T. 87 z. 4 (2015)
Celem tego opracowania jest rozpoznanie prestiżowych uniwersytetów na świecie i ich przestrzennego rozmieszczenia na podstawie dostępnych rankingów uczelni wyższych i baz danych dotyczących nauki. Analizy obejmują identyfikację najlepszych dziesięciu uniwersytetów oraz zróżnicowanie regionalne w zakresie stu najwyżej klasyfikowanych uczelni. Wykorzystano trzy najbardziej popularne rankingi (Academic Ranking of World Universities, Times Higher Education, QS World University Rankings) oraz bazę Thomson Routers dotyczącą najczęściej cytowanych naukowców i bazę Nagrody Nobla. Poza ogólną klasyfikacją placówek uniwersyteckich, analizy obejmują ich ocenę według obszarów naukowych i wskaźników przyjętych w poszczególnych metodologiach rankingów.
