Abstract:

The author discusses rhomboid-shaped brooches popular in Late-Medieval Europe and uncommon in Poland. In fact, the number of original items from Poland is larger, but findingsfrom Gdańsk and Elbląg have yet to be published. The Polish specimens were cast from tin or bronze alloys, while those from Western Europe were more frequently made of silver and with the use of sophisticated techniques. Rhomboid-shaped brooches appeared in the West in the 13th century and in Poland in the 14th century
