Abstract:

Celem opracowania jest przedstawienie trzech podejść do klasyfikacji małych miast w Polsce i wstępna interpretacja uzyskanych wyników tych klasyfikacji. Badane są jednostki osadnicze posiadające prawa miejskie i liczące mniej niż 20 tys. mieszkańców. W 2019 r. w Polsce było 722 małych miast. Klasyfikację morfologiczną oparto na Bazie Danych Obiektów Topograficznych w zakresie pokrycia terenu w granicach administracyjnych miast i wyodrębniono cztery klasy jednostek: miasta osiedla, miasta przemysłowe, miasta wytchnienia i miasta dychotomii. W podejściu funkcjonalno-morfologicznym wykorzystano tę samą bazę danych i wyodrębniono inną metodą trzy podstawowe kategorie miast (monofunkcyjne, wielofunkcyjne i oligofunkcyjne), które następnie uszczegółowiono w postaci subkategorii. W klasyfikacji wielokryterialnej wykorzystano równocześnie trzy kryteria klasyfikacji (uwarunkowania strukturalne, czynniki lokalizacyjne i hierarchię administracyjną małych miast), co umożliwiło wyodrębnienie 9 kategorii miast. Uzyskane wyniki dają możliwość wszechstronnej analizy i interpretacji zróżnicowania rozmieszczenia miast, co przedstawiono na przykładach w końcowym rozdziale tego opracowania.
