Instytut Archeologii i Etnologii PAN
Various forms of tenanted housing that existed in Slovak rural areas in the past have changed in the course of history. The number of tenanted apartments was reduced and minimized both in cities and in villages. Since the beginning of the 21st century the situation has gradually changed and the importance of tenanted housing has increased. The article describes the present situation. The research presented therein was based on the examples from selected successful villages in Slovakia. Research results indicate that there is a higher percentage of this form of housing in rural areas than in the capital city of Slovakia. The development of the phenomenon is described also in European context
