Analysis of the settlement development in western Slovakia in the period of Urnfield and Hallstatt cultures (the 13th-16th centuries AD) has shown changes in intensity as well as in territorial extend of the Lusatian and mid-Danubian urnfield cultures. The article is treating possible reasons of these circumstances in the border-line zone of the both cultural regions in connection with natural conditions and changes of natural environment
