Photography (scan from a slide). In the foreground you can see clay pots of incense and flags. Behind them stands a calf, and there is a platform on which sits a Brahmin (panda) recording data from pilgrims visiting Allahabad (Prayag Hindu city ) during Kumbha mela holidays . This place is considered by Hindus to be exceptional good for the people. Brahmin offers various services - saves the names of the pilgrims, checks the names of family members who visited Allahabad in the past. Besides takes sacrifice for the dead ancestors of the family. Calf cow is considered by some Hindus as a good guide to the world of the dead. In the background you can see the other pilgrims. This is done during the holidays kumbha mela , held in Allahabad every 12 years ( after 6 years is done so called Semi- mela ) . This is the most numerous festival in northern India, and Allahabad uniqueness lies in the fact that it lies at the place where the Yamuna flows into the Ganges. Place of confluence of waters, and especially place where is visible different colors of both water - is considered particularly auspicious for bathing during kumbha mela
