Abstract:

In the 1930s, the Lemkos established over a dozen branches and groups of the Lemko Association in Canada in the provinces: Ontario (Toronto, Hamilton, Windsor, Fort William, Port Arthur); Quebec (Montreal, Arvida, Val-d’Or); Alberta (Edmonton, Edson) and Manitoba (Winnipeg). The article presents selected aspects of the activities of women’s branches in Toronto (No. 8) and Montreal (No. 11) against the background of the activities of men’s and co-educational branches. The article includes statistical data on funds collected for statutory purposes by women’s branches.
