Title: Peasant Economy as a Long-Perspective Structure

Abstract:

The paper discusses changes on family agricultural farms, which are connected with the changes in the rural economy, where the primary sector is being replaced by the development of a services economy. The author discusses these changes from a point of view of these long-duration structures, which were peasant farms in the past. It discusses approaches to modelling the peasant economy and indicates the transformations thereof, resulting from the operation of market mechanisms and the decreasing role of the agriculture sector in contemporary economies. The logic of the functioning of the farm, which is presently subordinated to the logic of the market, was the subject of change as was the family logic of a contemporary farmer.
