Abstrakt:

Celem artykułu – z cyklu o zapomnianych amerykańskich żołnierzach w Great War – jest przypomnienie o udziale czarnych Amerykanów w wysiłku wojennym Stanów Zjednoczonych. Afroamerykanie, mimo ówczesnych napięć rasowych, dosyć masowo zgłaszali swój akces do wojska i służby krajowi. W związku z segregacją rasową powołano z czasem dwie dywizje żołnierzy kolorowych, które brały udział w walkach na froncie zachodnim, a blisko 160 tys. czarnych rekrutów skierowano do służb pomocniczych w wojsku – Service of Supply (SOS).
