Przeprowadzone badania nad morfologią żołądków 27 gatunków owadożernych pozwalają stwierdzić, że ogólny plan budowy śluzówki żołądkowej wszystkich Insectivora jest podobny. U wszystkich gatunków można wyróżnić 5 dobrze wykształconych stref gruczołowych: obszary gruczołów wpustowych, dennych i pylorycznych oraz dwie strefy przejściowe (Tabela 1-3, Ryc. 1-6).
