Description:

Występowanie samodzielnej chrząstkopodobnej os entotympanicum i jej współudział w tworzeniu bulla tympanica stwierdzono u psa i wilka. Kostnienie entotympanicum rozpoczyna się w czwartym tygodniu życia postnatalnego. Entotympanicum zlewa się nadzwyczaj szybko z tympanicum (ectotympanicum). Canidae nie posiadają, wbrew mniemaniu, czysto tym palnej puszki bębenkowej. Dotychczas przyjmowane różnice w budowie bulla tympanica u Canidae i Felidae nie są zasadnicze. Wydaje się niewykluczone, że kostnienie tympanicum u Canidae stosunkowo bardzo wcześnie rozszerza się na chrząstkowe entotympanicum i skutkiem tego granice kości stają się niewyraźne. W tym przypadku nasuwa się analogia do rozszerzania się kostnienia skórno-pochodnego lemiesza (Vormer) na Cartilago paraseptalis u Felis i Homo (Starck, 1955, Ryc. 487, str. 571). Występowanie entotympanicum jest prawdopodobne również u Ursidae.
