Description:

Muscle segment examination in light and electron microscopy

Abstract:

Electronmicroscopy analysis revealed significant ultrastructural changes within the myocytes. Abnormalities in the structure and arrangement of sarcomeres were observed as well as substantial changes in the course of myofibrils. Mitochondria showed features of swelling, bright matrix and loss mitochondrial cristae, some were characterized by a completely empty interior. Ultrastructurally unchanged nuclei located under the muscle cell sarcolemma were observed.
